The cost of substance abuse and addiction treatment rehab programs depends on several factors.
The geographical location of the program, the type of program, and the duration of the program all contribute to the fees associated with attending rehab. It is imperative to keep in mind that there are a plethora of treatment options available. Substance abuse and addiction treatment program should be a good fit for a participant in terms of meeting his or her needs regarding substance abuse treatment as well as being financially affordable. There is no board, standard fee with respect to the cost of rehab. Every individual is different and will require different types of support when it comes to recovering from substance abuse and/ or addiction.
Type of Rehab
Rehab programs are often structured as either inpatient treatment programs or outpatient treatment programs. Inpatient rehab programs require its participants to reside at the facility for the duration of the substance abuse and/ or addiction treatment program. Inpatient rehabs provide an individual with the opportunity to focus solely on his or her recovery process, as while residing at the facility during treatment many temptations and triggers that may present in one’s home life are effectively removed. Inpatient treatment programs can last between twenty-one days long to six months long, and in some cases longer. Outpatient treatment programs do not have a residential component; rather they require individuals to attend a certain number of treatment hours, daily over a specified period (typically ranging between twenty-one days long to three months long, and in some cases longer). The cost of a rehab program will depend specifically on the rehab program itself, as will the preferred method of payment.
Insurance Coverage
Some health insurance companies offer excellent substance abuse treatment coverage. The specific behavioral health benefits will vary, based on one’s state of residence and the specific health insurance plan one chooses. Treatment for drug or alcohol addiction can be one of the items in the fine print of an insurance plan. There are many companies that cover a certain percentage of specific substance abuse treatment, some programs or facilities will be fully covered, and some will not. The literature that goes along with one’s insurance plan can often be loquacious and overwhelming. If there is any confusion, it is best to call one’s insurance company directly and ask any questions one may have regarding coverage. Obtaining treatment for substance abuse and addiction is essential.
Occasionally, an individual may elect to attend a rehab program that does not accept any type of insurance. In this case, the individual will pay the entire cost, out-of-pocket, him, or herself. Many substance abuse facilities and programs have a sliding scale regarding fees, and if one’s insurance company does not cover its services, will work with an individual to accommodate his or her needs.
