Alcohol was legalized in America in the 1930s, and since then there are many people who drink alcohol regularly, without any problems.
However, there are also many individuals who suffer from alcohol abuse. As is explained by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) “ethyl alcohol, or ethanol is an intoxicating ingredient found in beer, wine, and liquor. Alcohol is produced by the fermentation of yeast, sugars, and starches.” It is a central nervous system depressant and works by slowing down vital functions in one’s body. According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), alcohol is at the top of the list as being the third-leading preventable cause of death in the United States. Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5), as a chronic brain disorder. According to the Mayo Clinic, alcoholism, also known as alcohol use disorder, is a “pattern of alcohol use that involves problems controlling your drinking, being preoccupied with alcohol, continuing to use alcohol even when it causes problems, having to drink more to get the same effect, or having withdrawal symptoms when you rapidly decrease or stop drinking.” Every individual is different and will require a somewhat tailored treatment plan when it comes to recovering from alcoholism.
Luxury Alcohol Rehab
Depending on the facility, the cost of luxury rehabs can range an average of between $40,000 – $80,000 monthly, while some can cost as much as $10,000 per day. Luxury treatment programs offer many different high-end amenities (e.g., exquisite grounds, private chef, etc.). In addition to including the traditional mental health treatment modalities into its resident’s treatment plans, it is not uncommon for luxury treatment programs to offer alternative treatment methods (e.g., massage therapy, acupuncture, etc.). It is important to note, that although some people may feel more comfortable in the luxury rehab environment, there is no empirical data that points to a higher success rate for luxury rehabilitation.
